Cautionary tale – there is the Beeb disclaimer that they’re no more than a friendly co-tenant who keep to themselves, through to the media reports of the death and the girl who was disfigured.
Yesterday, I moved a wooden structure like a rooftop I’d been using as a store, grabbed the ends and turned it over – there was a spider very like what we see of the false widow about two feet away on the underside but neither heading for me nor moving away. However, it’s here, not just in the south of the country.
Your home might be hermetically sealed but mine’s not and all sorts of wildlife gets in. I’ve previously moved bedding in the evening, prior to going to sleep and there’s been some creature which has come in via the ventilation.
Think the best plan for now is to keep an eye open and not turn things over or reach into spaces, don’t leave jackets lying about and so on. Perhaps keep an eye on the ceilings and anything close to being a dark corner.
As for how to kill them, this is not bad – needs to be direct.
