The Mail scraped the barrel by posting a pic of a woman who let herself go and looks appalling at 71. Many said it was shocking to judge her on looks etc., yet some said their aunts were that age and were in far better shape than Christine Keeler.
Another asked – yeah, well just how good does Profumo look these days?
Well actually – not the best but before he died, he looked as in the pic at the top. He regained his self-respect whereas those who have none tend not to look so good later – Koo Stark is a case in point and Fergie.
On Saturday, a lady came into the shop and we were discussing fashion. She was a great-looking 91. I’ve seen many ladies and some men around that age and they look superb. And by the way, they do tend to be ladies and gentlemen.
Self-respect. No sense of self-entitlement. No victimhood. Just get on with living.
Also discussed was how so many old people are living active lives later now and the government has reflected this in their trying to bump the retirement age ever upwards and defer the thieved pensions.
What they don’t seem to understand and as someone pointed out – the ones looking great are the older generation from a different era when it wasn’t all narrative. No sense of self-entitlement. No victimhood. Just get on with living. Life of hard work and not whingeing about their rights.
But the next lot, the current older youthful to middle-aged, in all their obesity – they’re going to die young. The elixir of youth belongs to a different generation to us, folks [unless of course you're one of the war or silent generations].
Wipe that smile off your faces.
