Might Lib Dem voters conceivably have a rush of blood and do something for Britain?

Have just been looking at the Eastleigh reports at the Telegraph and Daily Mail and you’d think UKIP had a chance by that.

Yes but the Lib Dem voter is a strange creature and Eastleigh is a LibDem stronghold, i.e. they’re of a certain mindset.

Positive is that they do not like ConLab. So they are given to the protest vote – that at least is something.

Negative is that they might vote tribally. Either way, the Telegraph and Mail are not what Lib Dem voters will be looking at for guidance if confused. They’ll be looking at the Lib Dem rag, the Independent, with the Guardian second.

So what is being said there? I’m going to grit my teeth and look at those two publications now if I can.

The Independent – Eastleigh not even mentioned.

Let’s check that once again. Nope, not mentioned. You have to go to UK politics and there is the Independent’s Nick Clegg’s vid at the top but not on Eastleigh.

The Guardian – midway down is Eastleigh make or break for PM.

Click.

What’s all this then?

What chance a shake-up?

Diana certainly presents well, not sure about the Nigel effect.    I wish he’d stop grinning and instead come over as in tune with our anger – at the fuel price hikes, the immigration, the corruption.   I think people are waiting for a straight-talking person on these things, which Nigel can do but then he drops into this political leader thing and that’s the last thing anyone needs from him.

  1. “UKIP would undo a century of progress.”

One tends to wonder what planet these people live on, but unfortunately it’s ours.

Are UKIP going to disinvent the transistor, antibiotics, mass production and flat-pack furniture?

  2. AKH, I removed those Guardian comments just now to make the post more succinct and not to unduly antagonize LIb Dems who might still be voting, not that they’d be looking at this blog but still …

    However, you’re right on that.
