10 of the 12 jurors were from Africa and Pakistan. So much for a jury of one’s peers. This is multiculturalism.
And deliberately at that Amfortas. What’s the betting that this will be used as an example of why we shouldn’t have a jury any more and that only a Judge should decide the outcome of a trial.
Though it was interesting to note that this jury thought it might be ok to use the defence of religious conviction in the matter of her marriage vows (to obey) to excuse a crime. If you were using marital coercion as a defence then a jury of her peers probably wouldn’t accept that whereas maybe members of this jury were more amenable to that as a reasonable defence.
