NHS chief’s right-hand woman who threatened to sack whistleblower ‘axed inquiry into 670 deaths’
Dame Barbara Hakin, who is one of the most powerful women in the NHS, has been referred to the General Medical Council for allegedly ditching the inspection.

Please deliver us and let us give thanks there is no longer a Mensch, Brooks or Chloe Smith to have to suffer. Some readers would say there are far worse than these.

Total clearout required.

Why referral to the GMC? where we will be lucky if she gets forced early retirement, with no loss of pension and probably a severance package.
Why not a referral to the CPS? Surely covering up abnormal deaths is a criminal action, not a medical one?
That’s a very good point.

There was a facsimile of this woman sitting next to me on the train home Friday night. My eyes boggled when I noticed she was reading a job specification for a level 7 NHS “Administrator” – Salary min £48,000 max £83,000. The rest of the requirement was gobbledygook but the most memorable thing about her was that her face seemed to have been boiled in vinegar.
One just went up now, Wolfie.
