   Is it just me, or did this succeed despite the conductor? I’m not a musician but have seen conducting explained and this one seemed to be on a different page to the orchestra!

   The tempo is very slow. The conductor has another one constantly in mind, and the soloist won’t let him go there. I once played in an orchestra where the conductor told the soloist he couldn’t change tempos, and the soloist told him to go fuck himself. Quite rightly.
