Losing it over beauty

This is a cautionary tale of the dangers of apoplexy in pundits.

The issue concerned a football game and in a lull, the camera roamed and the commentators commented on a pretty girl and her mother.  Most football watchers like that sort of thing, most women are happy to be called beautiful:

A few PCists complained about how sexist and misogynist it was and guess what – yep, the TV bosses immediately capitulated and issued an apology:

“We always try to capture interesting storylines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test. However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that.”

As Chuckles pointed out, this was a beauty pageant queen being called beautiful – a PC no-no, of course.    Naturally, John C Wright did his rag:

The Political Correctist cannot be content to accuse rivals and opponents of small misdeeds or evils of a human proportion; the evils must always be absolute evils, the motives must be utterly vile; and we who stand against the impious filth and nonsense of Political Correctness, well, we are not merely vermin and enemies of man, we are perfect devils to the core.

He went on about it.

And on.

And on.

And on.

I’ve done it before – one’s anger clouds the necessity for succinctness and brings in too many other ideas in a rambling narrative.  Sigh.  He’s not wrong but ………………
