    Nikki’s timing wasn’t so good. It also did not occur to him that the West would be the only ones left ones to carry on communism, but that one didn’t occur to me either.

    There was a SF story out at about that time depicting the US as more communist and closed than the USSR – in fact they had traded ideologies and taken them to extremes. Unfortunately I can’t remember the title at the moment.

    Christopher Story is very much missed although a lot of his writings from International Currency Review can be accessed through ‘way back”. I’m not able to judge whether his faith in Golitsyn and “New Lies for Old” as to the faked collapse of Lenninism as in the New Economic Policy was warranted, which I am inclined to or as misplaced as that in Leo Wanta .

    @HKT – you mention “way back”, how can I use that? Do you know the domain? You also mention Wanta, and that is something I have had personal experience with and know many of Yamashita’s treasure guys. Although I do not think Wanta is mentioned by name, the “scam” he was convicted of is covered in Gold Warriors by Sterling Seagrave. I think recent events coming out of the Philippines actually backs up some of what he says.
