Russian flying fortresses

  1. A super elliptical wing-plan; but what was the roll-rate like?

  2. One of the commenters said it couldn’t fly but I think it did. Roll rate would depend on flaps or ailerons, no? Forgive me – I’m a sailor, not a flier.

  3. I am a sailor and have seen those planes on an aircraft carrier.

  4. Right, Dave, so they worked. It’s just a question of gross weight v lift over drag I would think. If the numbers add up, then they fly [providing sufficient thrust].

Aircraft carrier eh? That would be fun lifting off and landing.

  5. Throws a bit more light on it !

  6. Did you really Dave? Was that before or after that bottle of Rum and your dream of you flying in your Maidenform bra?
