Cowes to Monte Carlo
Posted on October 2nd, 2012 by James Higham
15 days?!!! In 11 easy daily stages? What is this? Proper yachts sail non-stop to their destination. 10 out of 21 powerboats finished last time. The race hasn’t been run for 40 years. Wonder why not?
Suggest they leave the ocean to the yachts and stick to the inshore waters, which are their metier.

What’s the point of a touring holiday if your Winnebago never stops anywhere?
Sackers, judging by the number of campervans I see that never leave port that problem would never arise !
Do you think you will have your boat built in time James, although I’ve heard the marina spaces are rather expensive at Monte Carlo – I would recommend you find one in the Barcelona – Perpignan stretch of coast.
Sorry, I see this is a power boat race. I thought it was your ‘get away from the rat race’ itinerary.
Is this a sort of ‘What’s brown and comes steaming out of Cowes’ type thing then?
Or is that just the Isle of Wight Ferry?
It must be a bit like the “Volvo Ocean Race”, known in its better days as “The Whitbread”, which has now become more about the stopovers than the sailing.
After all, who wants all that boring ocean when you can party with smart foreign chicks?
