Cherie commented on the trap for the Jews post:
The answer is really quite simple…
People (men and women) are not up to it. It will always be the case.
There are always more sheeples than leaders and the sheeples need to be led. This leads to the sheeple leaders imposing all sorts of controls to make the sheeples safe. These actions lead to the leaders keeping control over the sheeples because that is the only way the sheeples can be safe and for the leaders keep their safe position.
The leaders are then in control and absolute power corrupts…
The people don’t realise that they have more power than the leaders because the feel the need to be led…
I do think she’s right in this. It’s a dilemma and puts it squarely in the field of OoL to consider. Just because one recognizes that men and women [in general] are not up to it does not mean one can’t be libertarian in outlook, as far as humanly possible. And please, it is not patronizing to say that it’s not unlike the teacher or parent and the child – the classic Chekhov quote addresses it:
Man is endowed with creativity in order to multiply that which has been given him; he has not created, but destroyed. There are fewer and fewer forests, rivers are drying up, wildlife has become extinct, the climate is ruined, and the earth is becoming ever poorer and uglier.
When Man places himself at the centre, he is capable of discovering Higgs bosons and yet he can’t exercise control over those who would control him from above. He’s naturally rebellious, he wants to do it all himself, like Nemo and Nemo’s father makes the classic mistake of nannying, of wanting to protect him from all harm. The result is a mollycoddled kid who is unaware of and incapable of dealing with the world.
If he falls under a benign influence, then he’s fairly safe but still according to the whim of that influence. He has to test the boundaries, find his limits, learn life – nannying is death to the soul. Yet every parent knows the dilemma of the kid thinking he’s far more capable than he is and not only the kid but the woman too, especially the new breed of woman. And the man, especially the younger buck.
In bringing a kid up, it’s a case of not appearing to parent but actually doing so. The analogy of Strider in Lord of the Rings is relevant. He stayed at a distance for the past few years, roaming and keeping safe the boundaries, whilst the people in the Shire lived their lives blissfully unaware. There are two problems – what about the day Strider dies or goes away to fight wars and what about the Nietzschean/Wagner hobbit who beats his little chest and proclaims that he can be a superman?
Everyone’s subject to his or her upbringing. If we had basically benign parents who let us roam and discover, if we had good teachers here and there who could point us in certain directions, we stay free inside our own heads and yet we’re influenced well to be able to become self-disciplined, compassionate and capable. That’s about all we can do and if there enough good parents and teachers, the society protects itself and Them are unable to exert their perverted control.
It’s all in the upbringing, not in laws and control.
These last few generations have become, frankly, more and more ignorant, self-centred and yet think they’re on top of it all, not unlike bombastic children. The result is twofold – firstly, the level of ignorance and incompetence is staggering. Anyone of a certain age knows this to be so today. Each successive generation sees how much less capable the upcoming generation is. Secondly, it lets in the wolves. If we loudly demand our freedom, we never get it – all that happens is that a benign protection is thrown out and in comes a most anti-human “protection” to replace it.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t demand our freedom – we should, constantly – but from a position of knowledge, of being capable, rather than from a position of being unaware of the forces ranged against us.
One area this is more than obvious is with preppers, survivalists. I go to some of these sites and these guys are capable of growing and building things which the average dole sitter is simply not. They also understand the threat and that threat is, in Senator William Jenner’s words:
The important point to remember about this group is not its ideology but its organization. It is a dynamic, aggressive, elite corps, forcing its way through every opening, to make a breach for a collectivist one-party state.
It operates secretly, silently, continuously to transform our Government without our suspecting the change is underway. This secret revolutionary corps understands well the power to influence the people by an elegant form of brainwashing.
It slowly seizes children and puts them on the State teat, it’s happy for people to remain on benefits and under control. It pretends the citizen is free and capable of making his/her own decisions, whilst slowly removing that capacity, taking it out of the citizens’ hands to make sound choices and making them more and more ignorant, then says: “Look, you’re like children, we need to guide you.”
The last people on earth to guide anyone are the ideological, egotistical, elitist psychos at the top who imagine they’re part of some “higher caste”. Higher caste like Harman, Brown, Obama yes? Not to mention the parachutees.
It’s all in the upbringing, not in laws and control.
Finally, a comment just now from Rossa which needs to be put in for consideration:
Cherie, I would say it is more a case that the sheeple don’t want to take responsibility for themselves or their lives. Much easier to hand that over to someone else so that if something goes wrong that someone else can get the blame. The sheeple then don’t have to think for themselves or work anything out. It is apparent when the sheeple say things like ‘They should sort it out’. Who is this They and why should They do so?
The sheeple simply don’t recognise that the situation they all face is of their own making by giving up their choices to Them. Doesn’t stop them whinging and moaning about it though. Doing nothing is still a choice and if life bites you in the bum, then who is really responsible. Them?
For some people this also happens with their religion. There are several evangelical christians in my family. The number of times I have heard that it is ‘God’s will’ that something does or doesn’t happen. Nothing to do with the person who had the thought, did the action, the outcome is laid at the feet of their God. To me that is also an abdication of personal responsibility for your own actions. An entity outside of themselves can take the blame/praise for everything. He then replaces or is in addition to Them.
