Over a thousand people gathered on the outskirts of Tokyo, shovels and ladders in hand. Their goal: to dig their way to victory in the Japan All-National Hole Digging Competition, and claim the coveted Golden Shovel. – Reuters
The annual contest, now in its 12th year, drew 259 teams from around the country at the weekend to test their hole-digging prowess and claim awards for the deepest hole, the most creative hole and the most original costume worn during the digging.
Will this feature in the Olympics? I hope so ![]()
Or maybe the winners can all nominate each other for the 2012 Turner Prize.

Your posting of this is such a co-incidence. I was chuckling about this song a couple of weeks ago with a friend of mine. I am not sure how it came up in the conversation.
The co-incidence is that my friend lived in Japan for a number of years and I hadn’t thought of that song in years… The inicident happened a few days before he had to leave for a few months…
