    Methinks you are writing under a false flag laddie.
    Such perfect colour rendition, such amazing sound, all from that old wax cylinder. Remarkable.
    Casablanca’s Marseillaise is quite old and crackly now, but it brings tears to the eyes, which Bismarck’s (modern) version doesn’t do.
    The Bismarck version will become the EU standard version but perhaps Bogart’s version is the real reason for the existence of the EU at all.

    There’s a post in this. I’m a Europhile but an EUphobe. Unfortunately, the two have been conflated in the argument. It’s quite possible to love many aspects of other countries and their people and still be patriotic to one’s own.
