Rossa‘s second might have you stumped:
Answer to the last conundrum was a citrus zester. Madpiper is right, the channel along the side is to create a fluted edge to the slices of fruit.
So here’s the next one.
What is this?
And what would you use it for?

I believe that’s a garlic peeler. You put the cloves inside and roll it around and it takes the ‘paper’ off the out side.
I had one from Lakeland but could never get it to work
Agreed, garlic peeler.
It is a garlic peeler.
I simply press the cloves with the palm of my hand pressing down smartly on the flat of my large Japanese kitchen knife, then I use my heavyweight garlic press.
There is nothing to beat the smell of garlic and onions liquefying in hot extra virgin olive oil.
Well, b***** me, the things I’m learning!
Is it a pan handle cover so hands don’t get burnt from the metal?
