Yet again – incompetence or intention? There are two positive aspects – firstly, that some sections of the MSM is are sheeting the blame home to the deserving sources within Europe; secondly, that the sharper commenters on news sites such as The Telegraph are right on the money.

Today was a pretty bad day, when certain things happened to confirm my worst fears. For a bit of light relief, I checked on the France-Mexico score and wasn’t surprised. The name which kept coming up, concerning France’s disillusionment with their team, was Raymond Domenech. The Wiki entry on him is quite extraordinary and reflects [...]

Equality in 2008 – you spoil my shirt, you get thumped? If you throw all the elements into the equation – police/public, black/white, young/old, over-reaction – you have the makings of a very messy issue, fuzzy thinking and a lot of prejudice.

Way too many anomalies. One or two – maybe but virtually nothing adds up about the man. SCOTUS demanded he produce the certificate by a certain date or be in contempt. He didn’t-he produced a statement from Hawaii that an official had seen the certificate and was satisfied -not the same thing at all. He [...]

It’s been my experience in life that the moment something starts to drop into a nice routine, fate or whatever you want to call it plays funny buggers and deals a blow.

Right on cue today: How can I make my boyfriend understand what’s important to me? … me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me. Plus: Romance not essential for a happy marriage Oh really? What’s the point of it without the chemistry? Might as well say: “Wings are not essential for an aeroplane.” Doubtless [...]

Those poor women Two thirds of British women are ‘completely bored’ with their lives, a study has revealed. A lack of variety amid a daily routine, a limited social life and pressures at work are the main bones of contention for the nation’s females. Not enough holidays and coming home every night to be faced [...]

Whose tale do you believe? 1. In 2004, American geologists, sent to Afghanistan as part of a broader reconstruction effort, stumbled across an intriguing series of old charts and data at the library of the Afghan Geological Survey in Kabul that hinted at major mineral deposits in the country. They soon learned that the data [...]

The sorts of things talked about here and here are so far from the mainstream and it’s taken me going back to 9 to 5 ing to really see the lack of any sort of understanding in the workplace. Yesterday, there was a gathering of a few people in a break time, the question of [...]

Does anyone know where it’s going to be live on the net? The NYT says they’re covering it live but often that just means live blogging. BBC Online don’t seem to have it. I have no TV. …………………… Time to hit the hay. Post tomorrow morning. Visits in the evening.

As a few vigilant pundits have pointed out, it’s game on while everyone’s distracted during the world cup: In an extraordinary briefing to trade union chiefs last week, Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso set out an ‘apocalyptic’ vision in which crisis-hit countries in southern Europe could fall victim to military coups or popular uprisings as [...]

Evolution of the species How to realize that you’re not, in fact, a libertarian but rather a classic liberal? Answer – attempt to watch this world cup. Said one fan: Yep, I turned off the broadcast on Friday nights opening game after 10 min when I realised the trumpeting was not going to stop; couldn’t [...]

Well, well, well, well, well! What more can one say? It’s all been said at 800 comments, 700 comments, 600 comments and so on. It’s the indefatigable Cherry Pie [although she'll currently dispute the "indefatigable" tag] and she’s racked up an astounding 900 comments at this humble blog! When not defending the PCS, she’s out [...]

The shadowy Witterings from Witney who never leaves his url when he comments, has left 100 of same at this humble blog – each and every one of those comments a masterpiece of succinct … er … commentary. What is his own blog? In his own words: The musings of a freeborn Englishman who is [...]

When something is wrong, then it needs to be addressed. We all thought Daniel Hannan was a white knight in this matter of the EU although, to be fair, he was an MEP and had no direct influence at Westminster. Douglas Carswell was able to implement more direct action in the form of a PMB [...]

When I saw the headline this morning: “Mole population soars,” I mistook it for: “Moll population soars,” which was the theme of the post I was going to do. It all started with this piece of human wreckage on the left, masquerading as a Tory MP with morals and then I realized she was no [...]

Which would create more interest – this photo or a map of the country in question? [The question wasn't which would be the more informative.] What chance, if you were to read anything like this: More than 75,000 refugees were forced to flee Kyrgyzstan today as mobs burned villages and killed over 100 Uzbeks in [...]

The Aussie press had it: “Australia in serious trouble.” Although soccer is the sixth sport, behind Australian Rules football, Cricket, Rugby, Netball and swimming, they should have done better than this, on past performances. I had a quick look at the press before the game and there was great surprise downunder at some of the [...]

Democracy in action: Witterings from Witney writes of the death of democracy and he’s right. He might not like football but this surely transcends football and comes within his area of interest. In a nutshell, for the Americans and others who might not know the ins and outs of the UK scene, there are few [...]

You might have seen, amongst the Gorean and Strong rhetoric, references to Shamballa, the New Age and so on. There is a spiritual aspect to the whole thing which is gripping the world now and leading us to destruction so it’s as well to know who they’re all working for, mostly without realizing it. This [...]

Jams made the point that he’d lost all interest this year, Wolfie echoed many people’s thoughts that he was disenchanted, my comments about not being interested in the football echoed that – the overpaid, overhyped nobodies, with those appalling WAGs, Cherie thought I meant that I detested all football. Sorry, Cherie, not a bit of [...]

One of the faceless bureaucrats running the world Wiki says, of Daniel Estulin: Bruce Ramsey wrote “The method here is to initiate the reader into a special group of in-the-know; of mixing facts with assertions so that the casual reader won’t tell them apart, and to draw lines between A and B, when A is [...]

The Albion Alliance has gone quiet for a number of reasons, not least because we are post-election and coming into the silly season for blogging. Frankly, people do not wish to hear any more of this constant stream of political commentary for some time – they’ve had a gutful of it, including me. However, the [...]
