Men

Think our Sarah quite likes him:

  1. You have a very varied selection there.

  2. I see, James.

No use for the pics of me on my hog in Brando jacket, specially posed for this thread?

  3. Just an excuse for women’s night tomorrow.

  4. Odd James, that you should select Leonard Cohen and Dance me to the end of love. Also a pity that this version does not do justice to the song and that his voice (such as it was) is on the wane. The earlier version is available on Spotify or iTunes and is a slightly faster version. Great song and, I think, his best as it has a good Jewish ‘feel’ to it. As an aside I always find the female harmony extremely difficult to sing!

  5. Men relaxing at the weekend

  6. It was for the interaction with the lady closest to him in the clip, Perla Batalla, that I chose it. She was trying to play it straight, whereas the blonde, Julie Christenson, was interacting. He had to come between the two and she felt his presence all right – she began to smile and then he went back to his place and sang at her and she picked up on that too but was possibly shy. It added to the song. In purist terms, there were better versions of course. Batalla said later:

“When I left L.A., my friends told me I was slitting my throat, because there was nothing happening outside of L.A.”, Perla explains. “But Leonard ruined it for me in terms of where could I go from there? Where else could you sing that quality of songs with that caliber of musician? If there’s one thing being with Leonard taught me it was to be honest at all costs”.

“My favorite singers were always male vocalists and it made me mad that my voice had all these cracks and tones built in. It was always the gutsy, full-throated singers that inspired me… So when I sing, I want to give it all”.

“When you perform, sometimes there’s a sense of loss, and exhaustion in every way, physically, emotionally. But there’s also a sense of excitement. I think all people crave to be understood, and there’s nothing like that feeling of being understood by an audience. You definitely went on a journey and you know you made it.”

    Neither is coy here:
