Knitting trips to Iceland

There is significant interest among foreign knitting enthusiasts in luxury trips to Iceland where they can knit in an Icelandic environment. Knitting Iceland is a new travel agency offering such customized trips to the country.
“It is a completely new target group in tourism in Iceland. Organizing knitting trips to the country have never been done before to my knowledge,” Ragnheidur Eiríksdóttir, who runs Knitting Iceland with knitwear designer Hélène Magnusson, told Fréttabladid.
“With this idea we were included in a project called Export Increase and Economic Growth at the Trade Council of Iceland and there we have worked on organizing and marketing such trips since October,” Eiríksdóttir added.
Are you a knitting enthusiast?
Knitting in an Icelandic environment assists with the “knit one purl one” but the rarified atmosphere might get you into a bit of bother if you attempt the “knit one purl two”.
Here is an example of one of the latter which did work out OK. And do watch those needles on the plane.
Here’s how to get into training for this trip:

I can think of much more interesting things to do on my hols than knitting!
If we have extreme ironing perhaps there is scope for extreme knitting
That has to be a really small target group don’t you think? Knitters, o.k. Iceland, I can see the attraction. Knitters in Iceland, all right good. Knitters flying to Iceland to knit? Are you fracking kidding me?

I kinda like the idea and I might take up knitting to do it. After all – look whom I’d be in the company of – the right target group for more amorous pursuits. Look, in the youtube, at those beautiful hands and how she strokes that knitting. And as for the crochetists, they’re something else again!
I have a friend currently on one of these excursions. She is young and brilliant, and enjoys knitting. She has been hiking on glaciers, sitting in hot springs, learning about wools and natural dyes…..I cannot think of a more awesome way to enhance your skills at some hobby. I may give it a try myself . It is a very creative travel package.
