The hijacked yacht
There’s a moment in Casino Royale when Mathis says to Bond and Vesper: “I’m afraid that if you get into trouble here, the cavalry won’t be coming over the nearest hill.”
I hope it never comes back on me one day but the Chandlers’ kidnapping near Somalian waters is in that category. Much as I detest Brown and how his morality seems to depend on the day and the situation, in this he’s right. The British government must not truck with terrorists and though their treatment of terrorists in the past has been hypocritical, nevertheless it’s a sticky wicket the Chandlers are on.
There’s no point saying they should never have been in the vicinity, there’s no point saying anything. It’s very sad and neither of them is in a good way just now.
There’s really nothing which can be done and I trust that when I find myself in that position and am facing death, that I could be as circumspect then as I’m being now in this post.

Sadly, I must agree with you James but Admirals Nelson and de Ruyter must be turning their graves to hear it.
The one thing the government should be saying to these kidnappers is – anything happens to them, then say goodbye to your tribes. Then if anything does happen an air strike is in order. That is the only response that type of people understand.
I agree we should never do deals with terrorists. I have been led to believe that this situation need not of occurred in the first place, if that true the people that let it happen need to be held to account.
