Blair – Bliar or Honoured Statesman?

The Beeb is neither the Telegraph nor the Guardian in the political slant of the readers.  It’s certainly a left wing news source – witness the gnashing and wailing over Arafat’s and curt treatment  of Sharon’s respective deaths – but its readership is varied and worldwide.

Therefore I’d go there first for a range of opinion on Blair’s little performance.  Comments:

The Ghosts of John Galt, Ghost Town:

Blair is blatantly lying when he referred to child birth mortality rates in Iraq!  World bank stats 1995, 48 deaths per 1000, 2007 44 deaths per 1000!  Not exactly the emotional picture painted by Blair! He tells blatant lies but I guess we knew that anyway!

Clive Simpson, London [no link]:

This inquiry has been an expensive waste of time, as no inquiry will ever satisfy those who claim to want the truth but actually just want their own fairy stories about Iraq to be confirmed.  Blair was magnificent, a true statesman, showing conviction and strength of character. What a shame he isn’t prime minister any more.

S.Krishnamurthy, Denmark

Blair and Bush are just products of western hegemony and imperialism in a new world “order”. Whatever Blair says now is irrelevant. Moreover, it was not the first time a weak nation was invaded by the big brothers, like Granada and Panama by the US on cooked up reasons.

I now skip to page six:

NCchik, Wilmington, NC USofA

God bless Tony Blair for sticking to with his convictions. The Iraqi people, especially the Kurds are safer tonight than under the rule of an evil dictator like Saddam. Apparently people have forgotten why Chemical Ali was called Chemical Ali. Study your history, Britain.

Khalid, Dubai

The honorable Tony Blair and his personal friend needs to answer, not in their native countries but, in an international court for the simple fact that their actions in attacking a nation that did not pose an immediate threat to both the United kingdom and the United states of America.

… and a final one which refers to the general opinion expressed in comments.  This post has not been representative of the overall opinion – it just quoted different opinions:

Bert Catt, Awaiting Moderation or Rejection, United Kingdom

Strange all these negative comments, anti Blair and yet I don’t remember any of you protesting and demonstrating against the war, oh no you lot voted him in for another term, and now the same lot are about to vote Tory, total hypocrisy!  No to both, never voted Labour, wont vote Tory!

This blog will state its opinion as another post.

  2. Blair has aways been a liar.
The “third way” proved him a liar.
Dr Kelly was murdered to hide the fact that he was/is a liar.
The enquiry fueled, by whitewash, was to hide the fact he was/is a liar.
    The current “enquiry”?
He always aspired to be part of “them”.
This aspiration required him to be a liar.- – - as it now does with the brownclown.
His employment activities since “leaving” politics prove those statements.

All part of a bigger picture, in which, in addition to being a world class liar, he played quite a major part.
It could be argued that all politicians, as part of their qualification process, have to prove their ability to be a liar, to look you in the eye, shake your hand, then stab you in the back.

Show me a politician who is actively seeking the control of OTC derivatives. It seems these derivatives are heavily involved in a current Greek tragedy…. that threatens to spill over…..

And the bastard banks are still writing them, and the bastard politicians have no will to control them. “We will legislate to control finance”. ….. You are all liars!

Slowly, slowly, the extent of the planning, from the slap downs in the early ’90s from Greenspan, et al, of efforts to control derivatives, to the blatant corruption emerging in current enquiries,

a partial truth is emerging. It is doubtful the full extent will ever be seen, and should the evidence be stored in a building representing a possible terrorist target, well……..

The constituens of the international basket of currencies used in all international trading/comparisons, is due for a re-set this year. THe nations with an “apparent” smaller holding of gold, as part of their reserves, are the nations pushing hardest for the inclusion of a percentage of gold holdings, as part of the basket recalibrations. This seems odd….but is also a reflection of the confidence held in those nations, that the reported gold holdings of western nations are entirely fraudulent.

    Jesse explains it well.

    http://jessescrossroadscafe.blogspot.com/2010/01/official-world-gold-holdings.html

Onw would wonder, when the fraudulent nature of western gold holdings is exposed, exactly how the “authorities” will deal with the crap exiting the fan, and how they will explain who, and why, was responsible for the internationally sanctioned criminal fraud in central bank accounting standards of gold holdings.

As more and more deteails are revealed, the longevity of the subversion, and the parties involved, in this vast fraud against the western taxpayer, becomes more and more obvious.

We are where we are, by design. It is well past the time for organised pitchforks and the hangmans noose.

  3. James…

    Moderation heaven?

    Just proir to this time-line.

  5. “Ned, you’re not asking the existential question, which is “Why aren’t they prosecuting?” And the answer is … national security – including blanket immunities and pending presidential pardons.

It’s all right out there in the open. As if anyone needed additional proof, this week provided it in spades. The government in essence has said, come hell or high-water, it is absolutely committed to the FIRE economy. IOW, national security.

In their minds, little things like paying off some connected, private parties to the tune of a couple hundred $bil is small potatoes when considering what is at stake. But if you read between the lines, they are in effect admitting that other than FIRE, we don’t have game.

Those $trillions in mal-investment? Sorry, they can’t be re-purposed to effect net production. So we’re gonna just have to make do with what we have. Labor arbitrage? Sorry, we cannot reduce wages or repeal regulations to be more competitive. So we’re gonna just have to make do with what we have.

They are all in. There is no other way other than we MUST have credit-leveraged asset-inflation in which to resume driving a consumption based economy. If you don’t believe we can pull it off (again), as if there were some math proofs or something laying around that dispel such a notion, then you might have some inkling as to what’s in store for us.

(Curse you Goodwin.) This is our Stalingrad; Hitler (in the form of our collective representation) has made the decision to stand or die.”

  6. I think all the comments are up now, Xxxl. Nothing in spam.

  7. “By their fruits shall ye know them.”

    The fruits of Blair:
Britain: Well and truly screwed financially and socially.
Iraq: America says: “It’s our oil, paid for with our blood”.
Almost no mention of British forces in Iraq nowadays.
Meet the Islamic Militias, your new local secret police.
Not the definition of a free country.

Blair: $250k per speaking engagement. Personal security beyond the dreams
of drugs barons. (Does the fact that he has this not tell you something?)
    Very rich, thank you.

Blair does fit the template for a hindsight assessment of a false prophet.

Funny how these assessments can only ever truly be done in hindsight.

Will DCam prove to be one of the first done in foresight? And knowing what we need to know, shall we still do nothing?

  8. The left, trying to morally justify their assault on the spread of liberty, is a sight to behold. But then, they also defended the Soviets, Lenin, Marx and Stalin, Castro, Mao and Che (etc. etc.), and pretended The Wall did not exist. Morally bankrupt, the lot.

  9. The myths and the media. Remember ;-)

  10. I tend to agree with the Sky News commenter who said that Blair didn’t lie, he just created his own truth.

  11. Indeed.

  12. Created his own truth?

    BULLSHIT!

The man wouldn’t know truth if it jumped up and bit off his bollox!

For at least 3 years prior to the Iraq invasion, the US Admin, dept of energy, etc was reviewing old maps concerning Iraqi oil fields, and interviewing old time oil men who had experience on those oil fields. Airborn/satellite geophys/magnetic, and whatever, surveys were also extensively undertaken. Oil was always the reason.

Three months befor the war, Iraq announced their intention to sell oil in other-than US dollars.
That is what triggered the immediate requirement for war!

Blair is an absolute liar. He was aware of those facts, and the absence of WMD…. UK inspectors on UN team. Oil is the reason he agreed with Bush, well befor the event. He had access to the Thatcher archives that built up the Iraq war machine for the containment of Iran, and the arms distruction after gulf war one.

US$ hegemony was at stake. US dollar would fall, US economy suffer. UK gov, via BofE and various UK Lords, is tied to US Fed. UK, Blair, had to back US military, given North Sea oil declines.

My pet moggy could conduct a better enquiry.

    Sheesh!
