Do not fall for this new blasphemy ruse in Ireland
This blog supports the atheists. Yes. Particularly the Irish atheists. And to do that, it supports a quote misattributed to one of its bêtes noire, Voltaire [peace be upon him]:
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.
An atheist group in the Irish Republic has defied a new blasphemy law by publishing a series of anti-religious quotations on its website. Atheist Ireland says it will fight any action taken against it in court.
The new law makes blasphemy a crime punishable by a fine of up to 25,000 euros (£22,000; $35,000). The government says it is needed because the republic’s 1937 constitution only gives Christians legal protection of their beliefs.
Where does one start on this peace of legerdemain of breathtaking illogicality? This is the same government which sold out to Brussels and did its atheist, global socialist bidding on the promise of Mammon and which has the unmitigated gall to pretend to represent Christ so as to push through more draconian legislation on the back of a certain ground level reaction among the population to the falling away people see everywhere in society, right across the world.
No, no, no, a thousand times no!!! No State intervention, neither for Christians nor against us. No State intervention. Got it? N-o … S-t-a-t-e … I-n-t-e-r-v-e-n-t-i-o-n!!!!!!!
Atheists, humanists, Buudhists, Muslims, Christians and everyone else need to stand up and be counted on this in Ireland and say: “No!”
If there is a God and if he did send part of himself in human form to substitute for the ancient sacrifices and if believing that is the way to heaven, then the idea will stand or fall by itself. The right and proper situation is that this can be freely advocated and requires no oppression to enforce, especially when it is the majority opinon. Nor should force be used to suppress it when it is not the majority opinion.
Any sort of force suggests that the people using that force are not sure of the truth themselves and the reason they aren’t sure is because they are serving a different god to the One they are claiming to represent. Worse than that – it is meant to alienate and p–s off an already deChristianized world into saying things like: “Typical – bloody hypocrites, Christians.”
If you can’t see through this ruse, then you have to be blind. The end goal is for people, even devotees of those religions, to support a ban on ANY religion, something many are in sympathy with, citing all the unrest and trouble religion brings, when the whole time, it is the same Them who are the ones stirring up the trouble and enslaving the free world by hook or by crook who are doing this.
Please stop and think this through.
If They want religion banned, then how about starting with the Eco-Fascism religion with its climate change mantra? This worldwide move has nothing to do with banning all religion in the interests of peace, love and tolerance but simply removing all opposition to their own false and deceptive religion, in order to push through the new global order.
If a religion has to use force to ensure its grip on a society, then it is no true faith.
For example, also today:
Danish police have shot and wounded a man at the home of Kurt Westergaard, whose cartoon depicting the Prophet Muhammad sparked an international row. Danish officials said the intruder was a 28-year-old Somali linked to the radical Islamist al-Shabab militia.
Notice that “Danish officials said”?
I don’t trust Danish officials as far as I could throw them. First rule – trust nothing whatsoever that the government says, any false calls for faux-nationalism, any justification for new legislation which impinges on citizens rights, however high-sounding it seems, nothing.
Now, what about the Muslim extremist they managed to trot out to break into Mr. Westergaard’s home, with the police conveniently right there on the spot to shoot him? There are Muslims who say that all of this terrorism is wrong and does not represent what they see as the function of Islam.
So where are these young men and women getting these ideas? From the mosques of course, even from the homes. It’s no different to something I read years ago about Irish children being served hatred each morning with their milk. What can be done about these rabble-rousers? The moment any of us call on the government to deport these malcontents, then we are supporting government intervention.
It’s a logical conundrum and they play on that well.

When I lived in Ireland, a few years ago, UFOs were regularly seen hovering around Bantry Bay, South West Ireland. (and pictures in the press)
The clergy were outraged.
One local clergyman was quoted in the local Irish press…(and this was not in jest, but a serious article) saying – - Ireland is a good God Fearing Catholic Nation, and these UFOs are outrageous. Our Church will do something about these things. – -
In the ’90s abortion was illegal in Ireland, as were contraceptives, so there was a ready market for English abortion clinics advertising in Ireland, and weekend trips across the water. Several judges restrained several females within the Republic borders in order to prevent oversees abortions at that time. There was also a heavy black market in contraceptives.
Abortion was infact illegal under the then Irish constitution, and many referenda were held until the required answere was given.
There has always been overt and covert state intervention, re Catholic Church, in Ireland. When my children were seeking state school admission, one of the questions was ….Religion? Newly arrived, We answered in the required box….Christian, ….which did confuse the entire issue, Catholic being the expected/required answere, and somehow deemed to be different to “Christian”
Difficult to see which way to fight this one. There could be a strong element of “Nationalism” thinking involved. I also could see speaking out against the EU in future years being considered to be blasphemous, following years of suitable spin! I strongly believe that to be the ultimate intent, and this way, ideally suited to Ireland.
Sheesh!
I’m glad you came out on the side of free speech
Free Speech?
ROFLMFAO.
In your dreams, Mark. It has to start with free reporting, and that needs honest politicians,…..
For example, ..James recently blogged about the undergarment bomber who toasted his nuts, but this goes unreported…
http://englandsfreedome.blogspot.com/2009/12/plane-bomber-and-what-theyre-not.html
Not strictly related to above, but extremely ominous developments :-

So……?
Moderation again, James, immediately pre this timeline.
Must be something to do with the number of links!
You’re not trying to neuter free speech, are you James?
No, I just saw it now and approved you. I seriously have no idea why it is doing this. Don’t worry – your comments usually go through and when Alsimet stops you, probably because of the xxx in your epithet or the number of links, I approve them when I see them.
I understand the annoying nature of this but I wish I could show you my spam queue – there are about 30-40 spam comments per hour and usually they are heavily linked.
.
Well said James. The Creator doesn’t need a law to protect Him.
“If a religion has to use force to ensure its grip on a society, then it is no true faith.”
Indeed.
“If there is a God and if he did send part of himself in human form…”
Part of himself? This would get you into very hot water circa 600 AD, I reckon! (Depending on how it translates into Greek)
Trooper :-
Looking at akkadian/sumerian texts, I’d say you are at least 4000years adrift.
Thanks, James.
I don’t think its the number of xxxxxx in my avatar. It seems to be the links. – 2 max seem to get through.
Have to zip off for a little while. Actually, not 2 links but I’d rather spammers don’t know what I’ve done – I’ve reconfigured a couple of things in there.
[...] Do not fall for this new blasphemy ruse in Ireland « nourishing … [...]
xxxl,
I’m not sure about akkadian/sumerian texts. I was referring to the controversies that raged through the church about the precise mechanics of the trinity, related in Gibbons ‘Decline and Fall’.
The idea that any faith needs a basphemy law is ridiculous
Agreed.
@ James – so now you think is was OK to repeal the blasphemy law in the UK???
