Celebrated turkeys on both sides of the pond

'Eat Ham' TurkeyThe Eurostar 2000 are rightly feeling sorry for themselves and so am I – headache to write home about [the pins must be stuck well into those voodoo dolls] and depressed that Monday is the end of the shortening of the days. Waaaaaagh! I just love the dark at 4 p.m., don’t you? Why can’t we have that and minus 4 degrees all year round?

Anyway, as there were no leaves on the Chunnel line, then it had to be the wrong sort of cold. Think it’s time to hit the sack but before that, a litte quiz:

1. Who was the hapless British Rail Director of Operations who was interviewed on TV and uttered those immortal words in 1991: “The wrong kind of snow”?

2. The current term for managing leaves on the line in the wet is now known, in bureauspeak, as L…… V…….. M………..

3. Diana’s Memorial Fountain was closed down because of …?

4. Started in June 2001 as a 36-month project to develop a system for tracking criminal cases, which U.S. agency spent about $170 million over four years before concluding that Virtual Case File system wasn’t going to work?

5. When the federal flood protection system, designed and built by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, failed, was 37%, 64% or 85% of New Orleans flooded?

Answers

Terry Worrall, lineside vegetation management, people slipping over on the water concourse and being hospitaized, the FBI, 85%
