Colours at Ten
My least favourite colour is red, particularly scarlet and other bright reds. Some of my favourites are burgundy, bordeau, maroon, wine coloured.
One of my least favourite colours is green, particularly bright or light green, snot green or light khaki. Some of my favourites are dark green and dark olive.
One of my least favourite colours is blue, particularly royal or light blue or dull blue. One of my favourites is dark or navy blue.
One of my least favourite colours is yellow, particularly bright or iridescent yellow. One of my favourites is old gold or warm gold.
One of my least favourite colours is grey or plain black, particularly each on its own. Some of my favourites are jet black with silver or with light grey or platinum.
Combinations are everything and shades are everything. My colour scheme for a yacht would have golden spars, maroon/tanbark sails, dark blue hull and light trim, maybe white. An alternative would be dark green and various shades of brown or golden brown.
What are yours?

Looking at your favourites they seem to be the same as mine with the exception of green. My favourite greens are mint and lime.
A pretty post. I like all blues, as you know and bright, emerald greens. Like red but cannot wear it, except as lippy. Love fuschia. Love grey. Like black, for clothes, and purple. Hate bottle green as it was the colour of my school uniform. Even our knickers had to be bottle green. Can’t wear yellow.
Now that is a car!
No doubt your inherent hatred of red is that it is associated with socialists and that they always leave the country in it!
I forgot to mention I like lilacs and pinks too
@ WitteringsfromWitney – Red is also associated with Lancashire which James may have a problem with too
I love purples, whites, blacks, greys and french navy blue. I like pink but not for clothes.
I dislike oranges, reds, yellows most browns and greens.
The yacht sounds like heaven on water – and the other male equivalent of going weak at the knees is the vision of a guards red 997 cabriolet with cream hide interior.
I did enjoy these comments. Lancashire [which I'm not now technically in] has a lot of royal blue too – Evertonian I suppose.
French navy blue is a navy and a nice one but the colour on, say, the French sports teams is not navy – it’s closer to our royal and I don’t like it.
There was an incident in Australia many years ago. The Melbourne FC, in its glory years, had a dark red and dark navy. It then changed to a wimpy royal blue and bright red, to satisfy the advent of colour television and form that point on, they went downhill – not necessarily for that reason but still …….
One year they decided to go back to the original navy and dark red and immediately, seriously, they climbed the ladder and got into the finals. At one point they were almost unstoppable.
Would you agree that colours do affect mood and wellbeing?
MTG – weak at the knees indeed. Completely concur.
RE: the red association of Lancashire – I was thinking of the wars of the roses. I was born in Lancashire and I was associating you with Yorkshire which is why I was suggesting there may be an issue
I was obviously being far too complicated LOL
It’s all love and peace these days although Lancastrians have digs at me for pronouncing up “oop”, “arright then?” and other little slips I occasionally make.
It always gives me a smile because my line manger is from Yorkshire and he keeps getting comments saying that the two of us shouldn’t get on. He always rolls his eyes with a long suffering sigh…
