EU just can’t leave it alone, can they?
This one was beyond the pale yesterday:
There was uproar in Italy today over a ruling by the European court of human rights that the crucifixes that hang in most Italian classrooms are a violation of religious and educational freedoms.
The seven judges, whose decision could prompt a Europe-wide review of the use of religious symbols on public premises, said state schools had to “observe confessional neutrality”.
Except on the far left, the ruling met with condemnation among Italian politicians and was denounced by the Vatican. Silvio Berlusconi’s education minister, Maria Stella Gelmini, said: “No one, not even some ideologically motivated European court, will succeed in rubbing out our identity.”
The European Union officials are scumbags, pure and simple. Using the same old ruse of Human Rights, they’re determined to stamp out anything which smacks of a separate heritage to the godless, soulless, global socialism they’re promoting.
It is against International Law for any other nation to attempt to destroy the sovereignty or heritage of another nation. That’s why the UK has no need to go through any process to depart the EU – they’re not part of it at the point Brown committed an illegal act in signing us into Lisbon which removes sovereignty without the will of the people. Similarly, for Brussels to unilaterally declare what Italy can or cannot do in its own land in public buildings has received its just deserts.
The EU is no different to the USSR and we all know about “human rights” in that massive land. Human rights – what a joke.
One government minister, Roberto Calderoli, of the Northern League, said yesterday: “The European court has trodden on our rights, our culture, our history, our traditions and our values.”
Claudio Scajola, a member of Berlusconi’s Freedom People party, said: “The crucifix is a universal symbol of love, meekness and peace. Preventing it from being displayed is an act of violence against the deep-seated feelings of the Italian people and all persons of goodwill.”
Right on! I wouldn’t have put it that way but right on!
In Britain, Brown went further and created forces to bludgeon through the bizarre regulations. It will be interesting to see what Brussels does to try to enforce this inanity. Taking on the papacy has never been a sane strategy in the past and seems not to be so here.

Can we have EU symbols removed from schools and places of work?
I do agree (so so much) that the anti-crucifix thing is stupid beyond belief.
However, IIRC as advised years ago by Guy Herbert of NO2ID and Samizdata, the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights are different things. [I do hope I've got that right.]
So: right crime, wrong criminal.
Best regards
Before you know it they will be objecting to the ikons in Athens trolley buses.
That’s next, Steve.
